The
ELiMS® Remote Return Station can
be located anywhere, inside building, in public transport
terminal or even along the road much to the convenience of
patrons.
Serving
almost the same function as ELiMS®
Book Drop, for example, freeing librarians from labor-intensive
loan cancellation activity and operating 24hrs 7 days per
week, ELiMS® Remote Return Station
is the answer in providing value-added service to busy library
patrons.
Being
ergonomically designed for independent operation, ELiMS®
Remote Return Station is able to monitor each item dropped
and will lock the chute flap when book bin is full. This will
prevent patrons from further dropping in books and jam up
the bin. At the same, it will also alert the dispatch company
to empty the bin. The flap will be lock if it did not sense
the library's RFID Tag. This prevents unauthorized things
from being deposited into the Remote Return Station.
Information
like borrower's name, book title, due date will be automatically
captured via the RFID Tag with every book dropped. This information,
stored in a database, will then be able to retrieve for verification.
With
no manpower required, operation of the remote book drop is
constantly monitored by control software that interfaces with
the sensors, displays and solenoid in the bin.
