ST LogiTrack Pte Ltd was awarded a contract to design, supply, and install an Electronic Library Management System (ELiMS®) for the Singapore Airline (SIA) Technical Library.

SIA is one of the world's best airline, and part of their success is due to their effort in training and educating their staff. To promote a learning environment, SIA Technical library was set up to provide staff with the necessary technical information and knowledge.

At SIA Technical library, ELiMS® Multi Purpose Station (MPS) was deployed to provide self-borrowing, self-returning and sorting services. Staff borrow or return materials by placing the materials on the MPS. Sorting is a breeze for library staff with the new system. The shelf number of the item will be displayed once the item is placed on the reading pad. The ELiMS® EAS Gantry makes sure all items in the library are not being brought out without proper authorization. Taking a step further, the Gantry captures the ID number of the item being taken out without authorization, for accountability purposes.

With the whole process fully automated, this technical library can now be operated with a single library staff who focuses on providing value-added services such as membership registration, answer enquiries and helping staff find their way to the library materials of their choice. At the same time, patrons can now access a whole array of books, journals, magazines and training packages without having to bother the staff at any time of the day.
